10 Differences Between Boys And Men
Boys will be boys, as they say. And that’s perfectly fine. But until a boy becomes a man, he has no business trying to be with a woman. Know the difference. And choose carefully.
1. Boys whine; men cry.
Boys are too immature to express their feelings properly, so instead of talking about their issues, they simply whine—about everything, all the time. Men, on the other hand, are not afraid to say what’s on their mind, and if they need to cry, they let it out. Boys hold to the idea that “real men don’t cry,” but in reality, a real man is in touch with his emotions and knows how to talk about them.
2. Boys run; men walk.
Boys think that life is a race, and whoever gets to the end first is the winner. They rush through everything without taking time to enjoy anything. Men, however, realize that life is short and that every little moment should be experienced to the fullest. A real man isn’t in a hurry to get “there,” wherever “there” might be. He walks through life at a comfortable pace, which makes his woman feel comfortable as well.
3. Boys hit; men hug.
When a boy is offended or hurt, his first reaction is to hurt back. He will do whatever he can to get revenge on whoever did him wrong, even if that means risking his own reputation. All a boy cares about is getting even. A man’s first reaction, however, is to find peace and work things out without causing any more damage. If a man is in a disagreement with his woman, he will reach out to hug her rather than lurch back to hit her.
4. Boys cling; men trust.
Boys are way too overprotective of what they “own.” They know what is theirs and they don’t want anyone else touching it. This can lead to some pretty irrational behaviors, which are never healthy in a relationship. Men, on the other hand, know what is theirs (though they also know they don’t “own” her), and they are confident that she isn’t going anywhere. A real man can trust his woman, and he doesn’t feel the need to keep tabs on her every move.
5. Boys pretend; men don’t.
Boys feel the need to act like one person with their friends and another person with their girl. They can be the epitome of Prince Charming one minute and then a total jerk the next. Their character is inconsistent and erratic. A real man will be the complete opposite of a boy. He sticks to his true self, regardless of the situation or circumstances. He doesn’t pretend to be someone he’s not, even if he knows not everyone will like him.
6. Boys depend; men break free.
Boys have a very difficult time sticking up for themselves and going after what they want. If mommy calls, boys beckon. They can’t seem to make up their minds without their parents influencing them in some way or another. Even though they will deny it, they are so dependent on others that they have no freedom of their own (. Men, though, are able to break the apron strings and make their own decisions in life. They recognize the importance of their parents’ input, but they will do what they themselves think is best.
7. Boys hoard; men share.
Boys are very slow to generosity and very greedy when it comes to money/possessions. They think the world owes them something and that money will get them everything they want in life. Men know that money is nothing more than a necessity. They don’t mind treating their women like a queen, because she is more valuable than any amount of money. They give freely of themselves and all their possessions because they realize what is really important in life.
8. Boys insult; men build up.
Boys don’t ever have anything nice to say. They are constantly belittling and rude. Rather than compliment his girl’s new dress, a boy will focus on her bad-hair day and ugly shoes. Men, however, know the value of their lady, and they will do anything to make sure she knows it. A real man goes above and beyond to make his woman feel loved and appreciated by building her up instead of tearing her down.
9. Boys begrudge; men forgive.
This is perhaps the most important difference between a boy and a man. Boys have a very hard time letting go of the past. They don’t want to move forward, and they can’t, because they won’t forgive. Men know that mending relationships and forgiving the other person is way more important than holding onto a grudge. Men are quick to apologize and even quicker to forgive.
10. Boys quit; men commit.
Boys don’t want commitment. They are in it for whatever they can get out of it at the moment. Boys refuse to make anything official, because they want the benefits without signing the lease. However, when a man knows what he wants, he will make it known to everyone. Men take relationships seriously, and they will pursue their woman no matter what it takes. They refuse to quit, because they know what they want and how important it is to them.
