Adderall For Your Ears: 11 Songs To Instantly Power You Through Your Hump Day
By Lance Pauker
Wednesday is like other days of the week, in the sense that it happens once every seven days, and that people have clear, hard-hitting opinions about the fact that it’s a temporal marker which occupies 1/7th of our existence.
Hump day, as it’s called, is usually supplemented by phrases like “the turning point,” and “the first glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel.”
Wednesday has therefore developed a nice little narrative that makes “you’re kinda/sorta almost there!” motivationally-skewed articles a nice, hot commodity. This is because Hump Day is all about powering through. So power through with these bits of musical joy:
1. Jon Bellion – Ungrateful Eyes

He’s spiked massively in popularity since he released this impressive Drake Cover last year, and for good reason. It’s safe to say nobody is doing what Jon Bellion is doing right now. A true talent who will undoubtedly have an incredible future in music.
2. Mighty Mike – Land Down Under Vs. Midnight City

This mashup is everything.
3. Foxes – Youth
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx0x5aRPhgk&w=560&h=315]
You probs know Foxes from Zedd’s smash-hit, Clarity. The fierce Brit has since begun to do her own thing, which she shows off magnificently above.
4. Eric Prydz – Call On Me
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_fCqg92qks&w=584&h=390]
If you’re stuck at work late, it’s never a terrible idea to have a dance party in them headphones.
5. Madison Beer – Melodies
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBHVtI9kTAo&w=584&h=390]
Don’t let the early-video Biebs endorsement sway you either way. Ms. Beer got picked up by the powers that be after this incredible Etta James cover (among other YouTube hits), which she parlayed into what appears to be future stardom. This was released last week to great fanfare, and it’s probs only the beginning–there will be a lot of Beer in our future.
6. MGMT – Cool Song No. 2
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg2IcEHWXWo&w=584&h=390]
MGMT just dropped this video for one of their premier songs on their new album. The video stars Michael K Williams, AKA Omar Little. Indeed.
7. Sum 41 – In Too Deep
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emGri7i8Y2Y&w=584&h=390]
Life rule #447: If it helped you power through middle school, it’ll help you power through hump day.
8. Cartel – Wonderwall (Oasis Cover)
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-AqJmXcGNg&w=584&h=390]
Great cover to a great song. But most impressively, surprisingly motivational.
9. Chiddy Bang – Opposite of Adults
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McRgkE_vgjU&w=584&h=390]
Old enough to be a slight throwback, recent enough to remind you of a better time. Crank the level one nostalg.
10. Dylan Owen – The Window Seat
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liTyROfpKPU&w=584&h=390]
Slowly rising in popularity, Dylan Owen is one of the most introspective young rappers out there. It’s as if you’re reading a feel-good diary.
11. Chumbawamba – Tubthumper
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H5uWRjFsGc&w=584&h=390]
Yeah. Always a given.
