15 Brand New Songs You’ll Want To Listen To On Replay All Summer Long

By

It’s the beginning of summer, which means hot new beats are dropping every day. Some of our faves are teasing new albums (while some of our other faves have already DROPPED their albums, thank you very much), and we’re already anticipating which singles will become the songs of the summer. Here are my guesses, based on both on how popular the musicians are and how catchy the songs are. Seriously, you’ll want to check these out and put them on repeat ASAP.

1. Childish Gambino, “This Is America”

When Childish Gambino dropped his new single, the Internet exploded. Not only is it just legitimately a great song (I’ve been playing it on repeat for two days straight), the music video also shines a light on some of the problems our country faces, especially for black men.

2. Shawn Mendes ft. Khalid, “Youth”

Khalid is relatively new to the music world, but he’s far from unknown (I mean, his debut album did go platinum). The same goes to Shawn Mendes, who took the mainstream radio by storm in 2016 and never quite let up. Put those two angelic voices together and you get this hauntingly beautiful ode to youth.

3. Janelle Monáe, “Make Me Feel”

Janelle Monáe has been my queen since her debut album, The ArchAndroid, and just about everything she’s put out since has been absolute gold. She just dropped her new album, Dirty Computer, and while it’s full of gems I strongly believe everyone should check out immediately, I have a feeling “Make Me Feel” will be the bisexual anthem of the summer.

4. Nicki Minaj, “Chun-Li”

Nicki Minaj is BACK. The queen of rap returned with an epic video for her newest single “Chun-Li” and you KNOW it’s going to dominate R&B channels for the rest of the summer. I’m totally cool with that, though — I could listen to her rap “Ay yo I been on, bitch you been con, Bentley tints on, Fendi prints on” forever.

5. Ariana Grande, “No Tears Left To Cry”

Ariana is the queen of releasing banger after banger, and if you don’t believe me, just look at the list of her radio singles and take a moment to remember how utterly overplayed every single one was. But, of course, that’s for a reason. Ariana Grande is good. Like, really good. “No Tears Left To Cry” is no exception. Her first single since the Manchester bombing is absolutely enthralling.

6. Post Malone, “Better Now”

I’m going to be honest: I wasn’t sure what to think of Post Malone when he released Stoney. But he has utterly sold me with Beerbongs and Bentleys, the post-breakup album of a lifetime that’ll remind you that your exes ain’t shit. “Better Now” is basically destined to become a huge summer radio hit.

7. Enrique Iglesias ft. Pitbull, “Move to Miami”

Enrique Iglesias knows how to make a summer hit, and he’s here to prove himself to anyone who doesn’t believe it. “Move to Miami” will give you all the beach vibes you need to finally book that ticket to Florida and spend the summer oceanside. I dare you to listen to this song without dancing. I DARE you.

8. Cardi B, “Be Careful”

Cardi B is back and better than ever. Her single “Be Careful” has already hit the radio, and considering how big “Bodak Yellow” got, it’s probably there to stay. Not that I’m complaining — the song is not only incredibly catchy, but it also has a message I can get behind.

9. LSD ft. Sia, Diplo and Labrinth, “Genius”

We haven’t heard too much from Sia lately, but she’s back in action on this LSD track. The music video is trippy af and the song starts off with a bizarre replica of of classical music, but as soon as Sia joins in, the song takes a pop twist that anyone can get behind. All I can say is thank god for Sia’s amazing vocals for once again gracing us unworthy humans.

10. Travis Scott ft. Lil Uzi Vert and Kanye West, “Watch”

It’s one of the first songs Travis Scott released since his daughter was born, and one of the first songs Kanye has been featured on since his Twitter meltdown, so you know it’s going to get a ton of traffic. Luckily, the song is actually catchy, and if you’re tired of hearing Kanye talk (because, you know, he actually mentioned “the sunken place” in his rap, which just feels a little too meta for me), you can easily just fast-forward through his part. Simple!

11. 5 Seconds Of Summer, “Youngblood”

This is definitely, 100% going to be that song you hear everywhere all summer long. And for the most part, you probably won’t hate it! It’s the perfect song to crank up your speakers to while you’re driving with the windows down, then to dance to at the bar just a few hours later.

12. Julia Michaels ft. Trippie Redd, “Jump”

Julia Michael’s new song is nothing like her last hit song, “Issues.” In fact, I’d argue it’s better. It’s smoother and softer, and Trippie Redd’s rap definitely has it feeling like a radio hit. This is the kind of song I’d lay out in the sun listening to all day.

13. Troye Sivan, “Bloom”

Troye Sivan has blessed us with some great new music this year (“My My My” or “Strawberries and Cigarettes,” anyone?), so naturally his newest single is also freaking fantastic. “Bloom” is the song of summer romances (if you can get over the slightly creepy music video), so go forth and play this on repeat and fall in love and have a summer of dreams, damn it!

14. Cheat Codes, “Balenciaga”

Cheat Codes managed a summer hit last year with “No Promises” featuring Demi Lovato, and it looks like they’re doing what they can do get a second. “Balenciaga” definitely has a chance, mixing together a soft, enchanting, romantic opening with a bass drop meant for dancing the night away to.

15. Nicky Jam and J Balvin, “X”

If “Despacito” could dominate the radio last year, then damn it, I truly believe “X” by Nicky Jam and J Balvin can, too. The lyrics (in both English and Spanish) are set over a raggaeton track for a sexy, summery vibe that’ll make you feel like drinking sex on the beaches on the beach all day.
