17 Reminders For When You’re Feeling Stuck
1. You are capable of getting to the other side of the obstacle that is blocking your journey.
2. This roadblock does not mean that you are any less worthy of achieving what you are working towards—obstacles are part of life, not some grand conspiracy from the universe to set you back.
3. You are working towards something more significant than this moment of feeling “stuck”—you do not have to let your feelings of frustration sit with you for all eternity.
4. You are allowed to take a break.
5. Taking a break doesn’t mean that you are abandoning your dreams—it merely means that you’re taking a break.
6. If you find a new direction in taking a break, and if you decide that you’d like to go that way, it’s okay to pursue that.
7. It’s okay to change your mind.
8. This bears repeating—it’s okay to change your mind.
9. It’s okay to change, period.
11. It’s okay to try something new.
12. It’s okay to dance outside of your comfort zone.
13. If you don’t try, if you don’t put in the work to make whatever dreams that dance inside your heart and your head a reality, you’ll always wonder about what could’ve been, what could’ve happened, what could’ve come to fruition.
14. You have to show up for yourself.
15. You have to give yourself grace when you have a bad day or feel as if you were unproductive—it happens to the best of us. You’re a human, not a machine.
16. When the words do not come, or the music doesn’t flow, or you cannot seem to find the right angle or composition or method of doing whatever it is you are building and creating, take a breath. Then take a step back. Walking away, if only for a moment, is an excellent way to gain perspective.
17. To be “stuck” describes something that’s fixed in place. Frozen. Immovable. Resist the urge to fall prey to language that keeps you grounded and remember that you are anything but frozen.
