20 Life-Changing Lessons I’ve Learned In 20 Years

By

1. It’s okay not to have it all figured out.

Nothing is certain in this world, and life is an enigma no one can ever solve. It is indeed a mystery to be lived. So, the best we can do is to have faith and let life happen.

2. Don’t expect everything to stay the same.

Things change, people grow up, and so do you. Just remember, it is always for the better to come. Accept the fact, enjoy the changes, get used to it and learn to adapt fast.

3. Trust yourself.

In any circumstances, the best person you can really rely on is yourself. Never expect anything from anyone, because it’s better not to.

4. Love doesn’t hurt.

Disappointment does. Rejection does. So does jealousy, curses, or broken promises.

But love doesn’t. It is instead the thing that can heal you from all those things that hurt.

5. It’s okay to fail.

What’s not okay is making a habit out of it, not willing to try again. Failures might feel bad at first, but you can always have revenge and be a success.

6. Be kind. Always, to anyone.

It’s the one thing that can never go wrong. Spread kindness, this world needs more good-hearted people.

7. Everyone has their own path in life.

We all have our own colors and stories. We have different struggles and blessings. Always keep in mind that we are no one to judge anyone.

8. All the little things do matter.

Especially the thoughtful ones that show that you care. Like calling your parents, telling your siblings how much you love them, or sending birthday wishes to an old friend.

9. There’s always a reason to smile.

Moreover, a reason to be thankful for. If you cannot find it, create one. The fact that you are reading this and still alive today means you are blessed. Be grateful for it.

10. Alone and lonely are two different things.

There is a clear difference between being alone and being lonely. It’s okay to be alone, but not to feel lonely. When you have the time for yourself, and about to feel lonely, go discover yourself instead and make it a time well spent.

11. Overthinking is pointless.

Stop making scenarios that might not happen. Instead, fill your mind with useful knowledge, goals, and positive thoughts.

12. Forgive and apologize.

When you sincerely do forgive, you will forget. It’s only natural that everyone tends to make mistakes. So, when you make one, admit it and apologize. It may take time and courage sometimes, but when you learn how to forgive and apologize, you will find peace.

13. The most valuable thing in life is not money.

It is all other things that are priceless and can’t be bought by money, but it’s important to save up some money. Someday your parents will stop financing you, so learn how to earn money honestly with your hard work. It’s a good feeling when you can buy your needs from something you earned, or when you can help your parents with money matters even only a little. They will appreciate it a lot.

14. Nothing is better left unsaid.

If you really mean what’s on your mind and what’s in your heart, say it out loud. Take your chance to speak up your ideas and true feelings. It is true that we only regret the chances we didn’t take or the things we wish we had said.

15. There is only one you.

Stop looking at others. Stop comparing your life, your face or your body to theirs. It’s you who decide what you want to be in life, how you want to feel every single day, and how you want to put colors to your journey. You are the only version of yourself, always choose to be the best of it. Don’t forget to always love yourself and take a very good care of it.

16. There is a price for everything in life.

If you really want something, then you got to work for it. Think how much you are willing to pay for it because your effort determines how the result will be.

17. Our earth needs our help.

It’s getting worse and worse each day, but our small actions can be a little help. Finish the food we’re eating. Walk to your destination. When it’s hot inside, open the window and enjoy the wind. Say no to plastic bags at the cashier.
Do the 4Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle, refuse) and maybe we can help to prevent our earth getting sicker.

18. You can find a home anywhere.

It’s not a place where you sleep or spend the most time. Home is where people accept and love you for who you are. It’s the people that always support and push you to always be the better you. When you find those kinds of people don’t lose touch and keep them in your life because you can always come home to those people.

19. Nothing lasts forever.

Not the good moments, nor the problems you face. Time flies, so cherish every moment, because they’ll be gone before you know it. And don’t you worry too much about your problems. Even the strongest storm will pass. They will all eventually just be memories and lessons in life.

20. Life goes on.

Whether you like it or not, you can’t stop life and make it wait for you to be ready. It doesn’t wait, and it will never wait. So should you. Stop wasting your time and be ready now. Do the things you want to do. Say the things you need to say. Start as soon as today. Start now.
