20 Things You Should Never Say To A 20-Something
1. “Wow, there are really no jobs out there right now, I don’t know how you guys do it. I couldn’t even imagine having to be broke at your age.”
2. “Are you sure you’re really applying to everywhere you can right now? Sometimes you just haven’t looked hard enough.”
3. “You should really start thinking about marriage, you don’t want to end up single at 30. You can’t just sleep around forever, you know.”
4. “Oh god, I hope you didn’t take out student loans.”
5. “Why didn’t you major in something serious? Didn’t you want a real job?”
6. “I know that [full time, unpaid] internships are tough, but you really have to think about your future. You’re getting a lot of valuable knowledge and skills that you wouldn’t have otherwise. It’s just part of the ladder you have to climb.”
7. “Do you have an online dating profile?”
8. “Don’t you want to do some investing or get some real estate? You know, make a financial future for yourself? You can’t live check-to-check forever.”
9. “So, when are you going to have some kids already?”
