22 Everyday Mini ‘Wins’ That We Forget To Celebrate
By Kim Quindlen
1.
Getting your ass up and out of bed, no matter how freezing it is outside and no matter how warm your covers are.
2.
Washing your sheets and then immediately making up your bed once they’re done, instead of procrastinating for five hours like you usually do.
3.
Getting to inbox zero.
4.
Doing a good thing and never telling anyone about it – just keeping it between you and the universe/God/whatever you believe in.
5.
Setting out to clean your room and then actually cleaning your room, instead of finding sixteen other things to distract you first.
6.
Making it to the bus or the train or through that green light just in time.
7.
Sticking to your plans with someone even when you really want to cancel them.
8.
Or clearing your schedule for an entire night when you can tell you really need a night home by yourself.
9.
Finishing your meal when you’re actually full, instead of continuing onwards until you hate yourself.
10.
Doing laundry and then putting your clothes away immediately, instead of taking pieces out of the dryer one-by-one on an as-needed basis.
11.
A fully-stocked fridge.
12.
Walking in your door right before a serious downpour.
13.
Saying ‘no’ when you need to say no.
14.
Being really tempted to be judgmental of someone else because you feel shitty about yourself today, but holding yourself back.
15.
Getting a super generous pour from the bartender or server.
16.
Landing a good joke.
17.
Getting a spot by an outlet when you’re at a cafe.
18.
Leaving work early because you’ve finished your current to-do list way ahead of schedule.
19.
And leaving work when it’s finally light outside again.
20.
Discovering a really good tv show that you’re really excited about.
21.
Being scared to try something and then doing it anyway and discovering you’re really good at it.
22.
Or being scared to try something and then doing it anyway and sucking at it but feeling at peace with the fact that you were brave enough to try it.
