5 Tell-Tale Signs You Are In Desperate Need Of A Girls’ Night
By Liz Newman
Life can get chaotic and overwhelming, and it is easy for our social calendar to start collecting dust. But, sometimes, that night out is exactly what you need to help you deal with the stress of the day-to-day grind. So, if you’re on the fence about whether or not you should plan that girls’ night out, here are a couple of instances where the answer is definitely a ‘yes’.
1. You’ve had a bad or stressful week at work.
We all have those weeks that just rock us to our core. Where we have had no semblance of control and the days just got away from us. Or maybe we had a bad interaction with someone at the office, missed a deadline, or didn’t perform as well as we would have liked. Either way, this is prime reason to call up the girls.
2. A friend is in town that you don’t get to see often.
As we grow up, we are forced to have more long-distance friendships as opportunities take everyone to different zip-codes. So, when those friends from out of town come to visit, it is a great time to reconnect over a glass of wine or going to a movie. It can be a chill night out. It can be wild. Either way, it’ll give you that bonding opportunity that you’ve been missing.
3. Someone in the friend group has something to celebrate.
A birthday. A proposal. A promotion. An upcoming career move. These are all great reasons to get together. Even if you don’t get to see each other often, this is a chance to celebrate the successes and milestones in your girl friends’ lives. Because when life gets crazy, sometimes you only really get to see each other for the big moments. So, good or bad, it is a chance to rally together.
4. You haven’t seen each other in a long time.
Sometimes, the best reason to get together is because it’s been a long time since you’ve been able to. Whether it be with work obligations or just life obligations, scheduling time to see friends can be a challenging task.
But, when you get together, all of the stress surrounding finding a time that works best for everyone fades away. You finally get to take updated pictures together, you get to hear the stories face to face instead of through social media, and you get to hear all of the raw, unfiltered stuff that is best vented about in person. It is therapeutic and nostalgic. It is much needed.
5. And, honestly, sometimes there doesn’t need to be a reason.
Sometimes, you just need a girls’ night because it is important to you to maintain that tradition with your friends. It’s something you all work hard to maintain despite busy schedules. It gives you an opportunity to be silly together, to unwind together, and to catch up.
It is spending hours and hours talking about everything that has happened since you were together last. It’s finding that rhythm together again, finding that common ground and also talking about the things that have changed.
So, no matter what’s going on in your life, make time for the girls’ night. You need it. They need it. Make the call and make it a priority. Because the reunions make the distance fade away, no matter how long it has been.
