5 TV Characters Who Definitely Couldn’t Afford Their Clothes In Real Life

By

I live for TV. I could talk about my favorite TV characters for hours. I take an interest in their lives, their careers, even their wardrobes. The problem being, sometimes my favorite characters go a little out of their price range on said wardrobe. Seriously, some of their clothes are as unrealistic as every single New York City apartment shown throughout television history. Let’s take a look at five characters, who specifically would have gone broke in real life had they splurged on these items.

The adorkable lead of New Girl is a teacher with literally a dozen different pairs of J. Crew flats that cost $120.00 each. Not to mention, her $230.00 jeans. Don’t even get me started on her fancy pajama collection. You may be thinking, “Maybe she just saved for these staple pieces.” Perhaps, but then in season 4, she wore $645.00 Yves Saint Laurent suede pumps. LOL. I don’t think between paying off student loans and paying her share for that huge loft apartment, she’d have such a large amount to spend on every piece of clothing.

2. Nick Miller Fashion

Uh oh, New Girl strikes again on this one. Nick Miller is a bartender and self proclaimed slob. He does not care about trends. In season 1, he wears a $130.00 plaid shirt. Absolutely not. There’s no way he would spend more than $20.00 MAX on any piece of clothing. This is the man who once said, “I’m 30 years old. I don’t have health insurance” and “I am not a successful adult” and “I haven’t done laundry in five months.” There is a no way he is a big spender when it comes to fashion.

The resident intense/complicated/moody/complex heartthrob of Girls can fit all of his belongings into a single duffle bag. In season 4, he wears a $995 leather jacket. He wears it for an audition as a biker, but where did he get the money for it to begin with? He definitely didn’t find it at a thrift store.

The Big Bang Theory’s girl next door is supposedly living off a Cheesecake Factory waitress’ wages. Hmm, something doesn’t quite add up. In season 8, she wears a $258.00 silk blouse. It is made clear she has a love for clothes throughout the series, yet I think she would be forced to find more affordable choices if she is serving people Chicken Madeira for a living.

The over-achieving Glee lead has quite an impressive closet. Practically every piece she owns is over $300.00. The majority of these things being worn by her while she is still in high school. Listen, teens these days have style for sure, but if you have the habit of getting slushies thrown in your face, you’re probably not sporting this $731.00 Stella McCartney sweater through the dangerous hallways.
