5 Ways To Overcome Loneliness

1. Stop Basing Your Worth Off the Opinions of Others.

We’ve always had this problem, especially when it comes to people we like or look up to. We start to base our self-worth off of the attention or opinion they give us and this is not healthy. Don’t let other people define who you are.

2. Stop Waiting for Other People to Make You Feel Better.

No one will ever love you as much as you can love yourself.  Many of us have grown up with movies like Jerry Maguire, that promise a perfect person who will complete you. It may seem radical, but what if that person was you? What if you acted as your own true love? Choose love for yourself over the fear of being alone.

3. Know that Relationships Won’t Fix Your Problems.

Don’t jump into a relationship just because you’re lonely. If you date the wrong guy, then you’ll still feel lonely, even when you’re in the same room together. Instead of grabbing anyone to abolish your loneliness, learn to live with it. Fall in love when you’re ready… not when you’re lonely.

4. Learn To Love and Value Yourself.

Believe that you deserve to be happy and you deserve greater things in life. Take the time to know yourself. You don’t have to keep up with everyone else. Be brave enough to be different. There is only one person who can make you happy and that person is YOU.

5. Don’t Spend Too Much Time Thinking About Your Failures.

Forgiveness is not something we do for others. We do it for ourselves; to get well and to move on.  Forgive yourself for the wrong choices that you made in the past. They’re not evidence of who you are, but evidence of who you were. Pain will leave you when you let go.
