8 Rules You Need To Break If You Want To Lead Your Best Life

To lead your best life doesn’t necessarily mean you have to follow all the rules. In fact, I think breaking some of the rules society tries to get us to follow, would be beneficial for all of us.
1. “Don’t speak to strangers ever”
For all we know, the guy sitting next to us on the metro could be our future partner! So, if you notice a cute guy coming your way, there is no harm in chatting with him.
2. “Go to college immediately after high school”
I don’t agree with this one in most cases. Most seventeen year olds are anything by prepared to go to college. Taking a gap year to travel, or work, could better prepare you for this huge transition in your life.
3. “Stay at a job for at least a year”
While there is something to be said about staying at a job for a long period of time, if the job is giving you major anxiety and is killing you on the inside, your health at the end of the day comes first.
4. “You need to have a plan right out of college”
I was an undecided major for my freshman year of college. And immediately after college, I worked a terrible retail store. Almost no one has their “five year plan” ready to go right after college. And most of the time, that plan will change. Relax. Everything is going to work out whether it seems like it or not.
5. “Do everything in your power to avoid failing”
Failure is what makes a person succeed in the end. You have to fail many times before you become good at anything. Failure makes you a strong human being and gives you character too.
6. “Don’t ask too many questions”
By not asking questions, you could make even more mistakes. Asking questions at your job, and in your everyday life could prevent you from doing something that could affect you for the rest of your life. So go ahead and ask away!
7. “Always avoid sweets”
To always avoid cakes, donuts, and candy is preventing your tastebuds from being truly happy. Trust me, if you eat everything in moderation, you’ll be completely fine. And yes, Nutella is ok too.
8. “Always strive for perfection”
I’m sorry but, nobody in this world is perfect. Not even Beyoncé. Striving for perfection could be detrimental to your mental health as well as physical health. Just focus on being the best you, you can be!
