Our anniversary is approaching (or maybe it just passed) so I want you to know how much you mean to me. This past year has been a whirlwind for us both. There were times when you watched tears cascade across my cheeks and times when you listened to me scream nonsense at you. We have had our fair share of fights, but overall I feel like we have strengthened as a couple. I am proud of how much we have accomplished alongside each other. I’m not sure if I believe in soulmates, but I believe you were meant to be my teammate.

I know I should not wait until our anniversary to tell you how much you mean to me, so I hope my actions prove my love to you each and every day. You are the reason why I smile so widely, why I wake up with a positive attitude, why I have finally let my walls come crashing down. I wouldn’t do that for anybody else, I wouldn’t have let anyone else inside the way that I have with you. You are the exception to my rules about staying single and keeping my heart guarded. I liked you enough to take a risk.

And I still like you, even today. It’s not just love because love is blind. I like the way you say my name. I like the jokes you make over dinner. I like the way you tell stories. I like your smile and your eyes and your laugh.

You are my best friend. The person who makes me feel like everything is going to be okay when I am convinced the world is coming to an end. The person who knows exactly which songs to play or words to say to put me in a better mood.

You have seen every single side of me, even the pieces I used to consider unlovable, and you have never even thought about running away. You have always been there. You never made me paranoid about whether you were going to leave me or cheat on me or lie straight to my face.

You are a good person. I trust you to handle my heart with ease. I know you want what is best for me and I want what is best for you. Luckily, we are best for each other.

I cannot believe another year of our relationship has gone by already because every moment spent with you feels like it never lasts long enough. But at the same time I cannot believe only one year has passed because it feels like I have known you forever. With you, the world turns timeless.

I hope you feel the same way. I hope you feel appreciated. I hope you feel wanted. I hope I have done a good job showing you how much I care about you because you deserve all of the love in the world.

I cannot wait to spend another year alongside you. I cannot wait to see the couple we grow into together.
