Life Is Trending, And That’s Okay
By Harry Floyd
The concept of a one-dimensional man does not exist.
To put it in current terms, life is trending. New trends take hold of our lives and replace old ones. Life is cyclical. New cycles replace olds ones and old ones resurface from time to time.
Passions and interests take many forms. Some last forever and others find their perfect place in life for just a short period of time.
One of the most difficult tasks in life is determining which passion to pursue. The simplest answer is to pursue them all. Some can be pursued at the same time as others, whereas some need individual care and attention.
Life is made up of moments.
It is important to take notice of the moments as they arise. Take advantage of the opportunities that are in front of you and acknowledge them before others take their place. Self-awareness and personal discovery are two different concepts that are interconnected when it comes to trends in life. Personal discovery is vital in order to understand which passions to pursue, but self-awareness is also necessary in order to know when a trend has reached its conclusion.
No single trend, profession, passion, spoken word, written word, relationship, or any other aspect of life is enough to define a person.
A human being is the culmination of everything and yet we will have experiences and trends that are independent of everything else and that’s okay. Who I am to one friend is not necessarily who I am to another and that’s okay. Some experiences are mutually exclusive and yet they all work together to define who we are.
Life is trending and that’s okay.
