The Best Relationships Are Boring AF

By

The best relationships are boring, because you aren’t up until two in the morning, crying your eyes out over something they’ve done. You aren’t screaming over the phone and slamming doors. You aren’t finding little ways to make each other jealous and fighting to be the one in control.

The best relationships are boring, because you’re comfortable with each other. You never get anxious trying to think of what to type to them in a text message. You never get nervous wondering what you’re going to talk about. You never stress about what they’ll think of your outfit or if they’ll show up on time of if they like you back.

The best relationships are boring, because you aren’t wasting your time analyzing everything the other person says and does. You aren’t spending hours complaining about them to your friends and searching online for advice. You aren’t obsessing over how to win them over — because they already love you. They already realize how special you are.

The best relationships are boring, because you don’t have a limited time together. You don’t have to take advantage of every second you see them out of worry that they’ll go MIA the next day. You don’t have to rip their clothes off, afraid that they’ll leave you behind if you don’t make your move.

You know that they’re going to stick around. You know that if you don’t have sex tonight, they’ll still be around in the morning. You know that you have the rest of your lifetimes to spend together, so you don’t have to rush. You don’t have to freak.

The best relationships are boring, because you handle confrontation in a healthy way. You tell your partner when you have a problem and work through it together. You get over every bump in the road that appears, because you act as a team.

The best relationships are boring, because they’re healthy. Because they’re free from drama.

Toxic relationships might seem fun at first, because they’re wild and spontaneous and unpredictable. But they’ll destroy you in the end. The lows they give you aren’t worth the highs.

Besides, there’s nothing better than being bored with the love of your life. Than sitting on the couch, holding hands and flipping through Netflix trying to find something new to watch.

There’s nothing better than knowing you get home to a safe, loving environment. Than knowing that, no matter how horrible your day at work was, you’re going to get to relax with someone who means the world to you.

There’s nothing better than a boring relationship. Because even though you’ll spend large chunks of time grocery shopping and sharing silence, there will still be days when you kiss each other like it’s the very first time. When you take a trip abroad and experience new cultures together. When you keep each other up all night laughing.

Boring relationships are the best relationships, because even when you should be bored, you don’t feel bored. You feel happy. You feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
