When Your Favorite TV Show Gets Cancelled
Is it just me or does it seem like every time there is a new television show that airs, we get obsessed by how good or funny it is, and then suddenly CANCELLED! It’s always that the show that gets cancelled too early and the audience is left on a cliffhanger. We then continuously ask ourselves “what happens next?” – which can be very frustrating.
I know from personal experience with loving shows for a season or two and then suddenly you never hear another thing about what happens to the characters. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, the show ends on a good and happy note, like Manhattan Love Story did in their final episode (sorry for any spoilers!). Some of the other shows, I thought, ended too soon and on a cliffhanger were 10 Things I Hate About You, Bunheads, and The Carrie Diaries. All of these shows ended on the note that you would find out what happens during the next season – but there is never another season to watch.
On the other hand, there are other shows that seem to have been going on forever and that probably should end soon if they haven’t already. Despite a show being popular, adding in new characters and plot lines to keep the audience engaged is just not always the best way to keep it relevant. I won’t mention any specific show names because this is relative based on each person’s perspective, but I’m sure we can all think of a couple.
My solution: all the television show writers should just release a press release or online article saying “here is what’s going to happen to the characters” and “thank you to all the fans for being supportive of our show”. It’s as simple as that! Just a little message to all of us dedicated fans who want to know what happens once the show ends, especially if it ends on a cliffhanger.
