I Want To Be Lost In You
By Jessica Borg
The word lost carries with it the negative connotations of fear and abandonment.
To get lost is often said as an insult, understood as an unappealing sense of not belonging, of exclusion.
But I know a different kind of a lost.
A lost in which one can detach themselves from the mundane demands of everyday expectations and roam free with wild abandon;
A lost that doesn’t necessarily mean alone or directionless;
A lost from which one may not wish to be found;
A lost that is born from love and a fusion of unspoken feelings.
So when I say I want to get lost, I mean that different kind of lost.
For, I want to be lost in you.
I want to lose myself in the flicker of love that I glimpse in your gaze;
I want to lose myself in the familiarity of the smile that I’m responsible for putting on your face;
I want to lose myself in the sincerity of the words that form on your lips;
I want to lose myself in the warmth elicited in your embrace.
I want to lose myself in the lingering passion of your kiss;
I want to lose myself in the arms of the person I know best;
I want to lose myself in the depths of coloured emotions in your eyes;
I want to lose myself in the sound of your beating heart as I lay my head on your chest.
I want to lose myself completely in you.
Only then will I feel completely at home.
And I will never ask to be found.
