JK Rowling Just Apologized For Snape’s Death On Twitter And People Don’t Know How To Feel About It
Every year, on the anniversary of Battle of Hogwarts, JK Rowling takes to social media to pay homage to her characters — specifically, one that was killed in the final book. This year is no different, though it definitely brought about some emotional responses.

In case the police are reading my notifications, there's a Battle of Hogwarts anniversary tradition going on. I am not on a murder spree. https://t.co/urrUYAMe72

Last year, Rowling apologized for killing Fred, who was personally my favorite Weasley and DESERVED BETTER. This year she’s tackling a more controversial character: Severus Snape.
OK, here it is. Please don't start flame wars over it, but this year I'd like to apologise for killing (whispers)… Snape. *runs for cover*

It definitely caused a reaction, that’s for sure.

People couldn’t agree on how to feel about Snape, who was one of the main antagonists throughout the book series.
Snape is one of the most complex and deepest characters in modern literature. Beautifully written story arc.

Some people were more concerned with the fact that she hasn’t yet apologized for other (possibly more deserving) characters.

Whether or not you care for Snape, if you’re a Harry Potter fan, the reminder of all the characters who died in the last book probably makes you a little emotional.
let's all raise our wands in honor of those we lost during the battle of Hogwarts😭
