This What I Learned From Dating 3 Different Guys This Year

By

I’m not one to date typically. I find dating to be difficult and a waste of my time. I’m the type of person that, from the second I see someone, I know whether there’s something there or not. But this year, I started out with a relationship — a relationship that strings into my journey of men for this year, something I wasn’t expecting to trek on. But here is how it went.

The first guy I dated was for around four months. Let’s say his name was Conor. Conor was super into me and sweet, but if there was a moment where he didn’t like something, he turned rude and nasty. It was like there were two sides to him, and the unfortunate part is no one knew about the dark side. When we broke up, he blamed nearly everything on me. He said it was my fault he fell out of love with me.

What I learned from this is that it’s important to find someone who is patient with you. He was to a point, and I give him props for that, but if someone truly loves you, they’ll find a way to make it work.

The next guy I dated was for around two to three months. His name was Collin. Collin was a super friendly, hardworking guy I met at work, and I found him to be very attractive. We started talking and eventually making out every couple of days, which was great. But as time went on, he got more freaked out about how fast we were moving. Talking everyday was too much for him, and he got in his own head quickly.

What he taught me was that I shouldn’t have to beg someone to stay with me. They should be crazy about me. Also, if there is ever a time a guy is confusing you about where he stands with you or how he feels about you, there is your answer.

The last guy we’ll talk about was a veterinarian named Clint. I really enjoyed his company and found him extremely good looking and sweet — he was an all around great guy. The only slight issue was that he lived 1,000 miles away from me. So we made it a plan for me to come visit. Nearly a week and a half after we met, he send me a text saying he’d “met someone” and they “hit it off.” I was left with an empty plane ticket and no man once again.

Moral of this story is: Don’t fly out to see someone you barely know just yet. People do it all the time, but in my case, life happens, plans fall through, and you meet people who can change your life in an instant.

I don’t know what’s going to happen next year. Maybe I’ll reunite with an ex, but all in all, I hope I meet someone who stays next year — and I hope you do too.
