This Valentine’s Day, I Just Want You

By

I’ve been dreaming of this day of love, celebrating the moment we found each other and every moment since. But this Valentine’s Day, I don’t need an ornate display of romance. This Valentine’s Day, I just want you, every part of you that makes me proud to call you mine.

This Valentine’s Day, I don’t need us dressed to the nines. I don’t need you clad in suit and tie, anxiously awaiting a night with me. I don’t need to arrive at your side in a dress and heels, hair perfectly coiffed, lips bright and glossy. I don’t need us to step out on the town as if all eyes will remain on us. I don’t need you to wine and dine me by candlelight because our love is always enough. I just want you, impeccably casual, eyes warm, smiling that way that makes me melt into you.

This Valentine’s Day, I don’t need expensive gifts. I don’t need you to wrack your mind for the perfect token of your love for me. I don’t need you to spend an exorbitant amount just to prove your love. I don’t need you to buy scrumptious candy that will be eaten by week’s end or beautiful flowers that will eventually wilt. I don’t need you to scour every store for expensive jewelry because our love is the most priceless gift I could ever imagine. I just want you, the way you sweep me off my feet, the way you call me “beautiful,” the way you make me feel like I’m the only woman in the world.

This Valentine’s Day, I don’t need you to go the extra mile. I don’t need you to spoil me with special plans. I don’t need you to spend an entire day showing how much you love me. I don’t need to feel like a princess for one day because I know how much you love me every day. All I need is the way we laugh under the starlight, the tender way you hold me when fear overtakes my mind, the passionate way you kiss me, the timbre of your voice when you tell me you love me.

This Valentine’s Day, I just want you. I want your infectious charm, your insatiable humor, your chiseled features, the magic of your touch. I want to celebrate the serendipity that brought us together, the miracle that led me to you. This Valentine’s Day, I want you to know that no matter how we celebrate, I love you with all my heart because you are mine.
