A List Of Things I Really Like So Far This Year

None of this is sponsored. It’s just stuff I really enjoy.

1. This really honest, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and beautiful memoir that made me feel really understood and comforted as a woman, even while reading about the experiences or feelings I have never gone through myself.

2. Making my bed right when I wake up, before doing anything else. It takes thirty seconds but it makes me feel a disproportionate amount of productive.

3. TED Talks about your emotions and how you can better understand and manage them.

4. Putting my phone on the other side of the room when I sleep so that when my alarm goes off in the morning, it’s literally impossible to hit snooze.

5. Listening to people talk as if I’m going to be quizzed afterwards on what they said, because it forces me to be a more active and present listener.

6. These high-waisted jeans from ASOS that I buy one size up and that are the comfiest things ever but still make me feel like I look like a person who puts effort into their appearance from time to time.

7. This funny, frank, and truthful novel that didn’t have a ton of plot but did make me feel like I could give my brain a break and dive into the very amusing and fleshed-out world of the really likeable characters I was reading about.

8. Putting maraschino cherries in a glass of La Croix (coconut), especially when I’m jonesing for a drink but I want to give my body a break. Because then it feels like I’m having a cocktail anyway but guess what I’m NOT.

9. This piece by Ryan Holiday about why journaling can be really important and how you can turn it into a maintainable habit.

10. My new cat, Fergus Quindlen.

11. Insecure on HBO. It’s hilarious and also incredibly genuine.

12. This healthy snack that is literally for children but that I can always grab from Starbucks if I haven’t eaten and I start getting the shakes. Shout out to my hypoglycemic sisters!

13. What Now? by Ann Patchett. It’s a short lil read but it will make you feel really comforted if you’re feeling lost in your own life. It’s also available to download on Audible and I highly recommend consuming it that way.

14. Making a to-do list every morning. Or sometimes, right before I go to bed.
