A Reminder To The Parkland Shooting Survivors: There Is Good Worth Fighting For
I want you to know, I am sorry for the tragedy that you have experienced. A tragedy that will probably haunt you for the rest of your life. A tragedy that could have been avoided if only our government and leaders knew how to take accountability. I’m sorry that the world we live in is so desensitized to such disasters. But most of all, I am sorry for the innocent lives that were taken from you.
I know you’re feeling angry, mad, and even lost right now and that is okay. You have every right to feel such a way. Just know that you’re not alone in this and we are all fighting for you. But, please do not lose hope. As much as it is hard to believe at this very moment, I want you to know there are still good people out there. I understand it is hard to keep going when it feels like our world has stopped spinning, but you must have faith that it is going to be okay.
That you will be okay. Think of it as a time to stand together. Ambition to take action and fight for better, so that we can make sure this damn well never happens again.
To the Parkland heroes, the ones who were selfless. The ones who put others lives before their own. The ones who used their own bodies as shields to protect others. The ones who will never ever be forgotten. During a time like this you showed us that the world still has kindness, but most importantly you have restored faith in humanity.
To the Parkland survivors, I want you to know that you will get through this. You will find peace again. You will eventually heal. Now that might not be today or tomorrow, but I promise that time will make things better. So go ahead and grieve. Take all the time you need. Just don’t live in fear because you deserve to feel safe. To not feel scared when you walk out of your home. You deserve to heal.
Lastly, I want you to know that this will not define you.
If anything, it should make you softer, kinder and better if you allow it. Don’t forget the good in the world, because believe me when I say that the world is still full of hope and love. There is still good out there and it is worth fighting for.
