Being confined to a wheelchair my entire life has definitely opened the door to many unwanted (and embarrassing, I might add) awkward situations.

Strength is having hope where hope was once lost and holding onto faith even through the darkest of times. It’s about finding the strength to move forward and leave your past behind, but never forgetting how you got to where you are in this moment in time.
Truthfully, a part of me wishes I could go back in time to when I was able, just to savor that sweet taste of independence for one more second, but life doesn’t exactly operate like that.
Were you scared that day? What was it like hearing the doctors tell you that I wouldn’t live past two and a half years old?
Instead of focusing on the paralyzing and negative aspects of being scared, it’s time we notice that our fears have the potential to turn into something great.
I realize I may be pointing out the obvious here, but having a nice, comfortable spot to sit 24/7 is pretty great if I do say so myself.
