In order to better prepare you for the soul-crushing journey ahead, let’s cover the basics of the responsibilities and indignities you will face.

Someone told me the third Monday of January is known as “Blue Monday”. Supposedly it’s the most depressing day of the year, though I’m not sure if that has some kind of scientific merit or if it’s just superstition.

They come from all walks of life. Some of them are fresh out of high school while others are just a few short years away from the mandatory age-of-retirement. Some have had to leave their lives behind, while for others, this is truly the beginning of the rest of their lives.

Martin Couture-Rouleau and Michael Zehaf-Bibeau were both Canadian, born and raised. I feel this is the most disturbing part of what happened: these people were our own.
