Four years ago, I thought I was signing up for a sport that may or may not matter to me in the long run. Four years later, and I’ve realized I signed up for so much more than just a sport.
I never thought I’d be typing this sentence. It’s traumatic, really. Here goes.
Here are 10 things I don’t miss about my drinking days:
All that damn midnight kiss pressure.
After all, in a twisted way, addicts are always grieving the “loss” of their addictions.
In the meantime, I’m trying this new thing – I’m going to trust my intuition and turn the other way when it tells me to do so.
Perspective. It all comes down to perspective.
I’ve never been ashamed of this per se, but I’ve never broadcast it either. I see no reason to, as it doesn’t define me. Except when it does.
