Over the past couple weeks, I’ve gone from extremely happy that you’re graduating and going to off to college to crying in the car on my way home because a song that reminded me of you came on the radio.
You have taught me that you cannot force someone to love you. You cannot be the only one in the relationship willing to try. And you cannot make someone want you for who you really are.
Throughout our senior year there are going to be so many “lasts,” but while we are focusing on how sad we are going to be when it’s over, we end up not enjoying what’s happening in the moment.
You deserve someone who will enjoy each and every one of your ridiculous puns and your silly jokes. Someone who will bring you pizza at 2 a.m. just because you mentioned you were hungry. You deserve a girl who will get butterflies in her stomach every time your name is mentioned. A girl that will write you love letters just as beautiful as the ones you have written her.
The worst part of it is when you ask them why they are hurting you they always reply the same way. They say, “Because I love you.”
Do not find your identity is someone else.
You carried me nine months in the womb and from the moment I was born, you never stopped loving me.
Do not be afraid to love again just because somebody in your past took you for granted. Remember that there is somebody out there who will one day make you their everything.
Society thinks that love is disposable.
We are saying goodbye to some of the people we have spent our whole lives with.
