What you’re leaving behind has defined you. It has informed you. It has illuminated your days for quite a while now, and you’re afraid for that light to disappear because you don’t know what life without it looks like. But you can’t keep looking back.
Maybe it’s possible that, no matter what I choose, it will be right because I will make it right. But we can’t look for clues in the present as though they’ve been left here by the future; there is no invisible sign pointing us in the right direction.
All any of us wants is to be happy. Everything in our lives is geared, some way or another, toward making us happy in the short run or the long run. But there is one thing that, if we want to be happy, we simply cannot live without: actually liking yourself.

It turns out that this movie is way more than a wacky comedy or a high school clique movie. It gives us more than fascinating commentaries on racism, attitudes toward minorities, and high school today. And, above all, this is a story that proves that, as humans, all we really, truly want is to belong.
How I Met Your Mother inspires us to be the kind of people to whom the little things matter, because life is fuller that way. And it also teaches us that the little things sometimes aren’t so little at all.
There is no universal rule for when it’s the right time to date, to get married, get a job, or anything else. The right time is when you’re ready.
