Confidence may come in all shapes and sizes, but the underlying characteristic of any confident person is that they take care of their own and give them the power to one day take care of others. My friends taught me that.
I may never live in America again, but I am cool with that — I have by my side the two people in the world who have given me the gift of “being me”. What’s more, had I not left, I would not have had the privilege of seeing America from both sides of the coin. And you know what? It’s made me love it even more.
Little compliments go a long way.
I learned that my past would not define me and that the future was in my control if I put my own well-being first. Most importantly, I learned the power of being present and taking the time to appreciate the details of each day.
