9. Go to the bathroom together at parties.
Their music resonates not only because it is brutally honest but also because it is their own — not some Ryan Seacrest gloss-and-glimmer idea of what music should entail.
These will be the women who hold you up and keep you from falling even when you reach the lowest points that college has to offer. These will be the women you hold up and you keep from falling.
Like everything else that is good, we will be flawed. We will fall apart more quickly than we came together. All flawed things fall apart, but all things fall apart.
We all put our feet in our own mouths sometimes. It’s an inevitable part of being human (and therefore more flawed than a botched nose job) to blurt out words we don’t actually mean or don’t realize come across differently than we’d intended.
I wish that we could say something. I wish that we could express how angry or upset or annoyed these interactions make us. And I hope that some people, who are certainly braver than me, do say something.
