Being Single Isn’t A Curse
Just an FYI to every single person on this earth: being single isn’t a curse. I promise you.
We can sit here all day and complain about it. We can talk each other’s ears off about how it sucks to be in the position that we are in, and how unfair it is. We can roll our eyes at couples in love, and giggle secretly at their gross Facebook conversations. But, what is that going to do? How is that going to help?
And why are other people who are content in their relationships such a huge threat to us?
We all need to take a breath, to look at all the other problems in the world, and to calm down. We all need to stop bad mouthing everyone else who are in great relationships just to make us feel better about our lonely selves. We all need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and to quit acting like middle schoolers.
Being single is not the end of the world. Being single is not as negative as the world makes it seem. In fact, if we flip our original connotations about living the single life, we will be a hell of a lot happier.
Let’s embrace being single. Let’s be happy about it. Let’s stop thinking that we are going to be single forever and how our fate is already set in concrete. We need to stop complaining and start celebrating. We need to stop bitching and start living life beautifully. On our own.
There is more to life than just a single status. There is more to life than getting a boyfriend or a girlfriend. There is more to life than having relationships. Let’s stop our negative connotation that being single is a death sentence. Let’s stop our brains from viewing single people as being any less than people in relationships.
Can’t we start embracing it? Can’t we start loving the freedom that we have? What is so bad and so shameful about not being in a relationship? Tell me, what is so bad about it?
I know it can be lonely, and everyone craves intimacy and love. But who says you have to be with another person to find that?
Who says you can’t do that just for yourself and by yourself?
Being single can be just as rewarding and just as fun. It can be exhilarating and powerful to know that you can be just as happy by yourself than with another person. It can be sexy and it can be empowering. Being single can be just as fulfilling. It can even be more.
You don’t need a relationship to be content. You don’t need a relationship to be happy. And you don’t need someone else to tell you how wonderful you are. You’ve got yourself to cheer you on. And right now, that is all you need.
