Bleach Enemas? Some Parents Of Autistic Children Are Trying It On Their Babies In Hope Of Cure

By

Desperate parents of autistic children are using a bleaching agent known as Chlorine Dioxide as an enema agent in the hopes that it will cure their children. The agent isn’t sold as the full Chlorine compound and is only half of the formula. Mixing it with citric acid from, for instance, lemons, reportedly yields the bleaching agent. The FDA has already issued a warning about the product as it seems to be sold exclusively over the internet.

Consumers are being warned not to drink a product sold on the Internet as a medical treatment after some users got sick after drinking it—including one person who had a life threatening reaction.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says the product—known as Miracle Mineral Solution, Miracle Mineral Supplement, and MMS—becomes a potent chemical that’s used as a bleach when mixed according to package directions. The agency first warned consumers about the product in July, but federal regulators say it’s still available for sale on the Internet.

However, the product known as ‘Miracle Mineral Solution’ is still being sold and thousands of individuals are administering it to their children as evidenced by the 7,000+ membership on the closed group Facebook page CD Autism.

Ifyouonlynews.com apparently joined the group and provides the following description of how the bleach is administered.

Parents are using bleach enemas/drinks to try to cure their children of autism. They force the bleach solution into their own children orally or via enemas — both of which can cause serious health issues. Parents report their children fighting, screaming and writhing in pain. The monsters who sell the product online say it’s a miracle cure. The sane population calls it child abuse.

They then provided the below screenshot of one member discussing administering the solution to their baby.

Further down the rabbit hole and you’ll find that Autism is being blamed on the usual New Age nonsense, parasites, viruses, unspecified toxins and heavy metals. This testimonial was recently posted to the page cdautism.org under the header Miracle of the week.

We have some big news. My daughter who is 13 is now recovered from Autism. Here is our story.

She was diagnosed at 2 with PDDNOS and at 6 with High Functioning Autism. We have been GF/DF since she was 6. Last year, my aunt who is doing the protocol on herself told me about the book. I believed her, but it sounded like a lot of work and the idea of parasites overwhelmed me. We were waiting to go see a DAN doctor for the first time so I wanted to see what his plan was. After our appt with him I was disappointed. He didn’t tell me anything new that I haven’t already researched. Just gave me a LONG list of supplements for her to take. I did bring up the book and I could tell that he couldn’t really talk about it with me. All he said is that some children with Autism have parasites but not all. I went home and thought…well, I could spend hundreds of dollars a month on supplements or try the cd. My health had not been doing so well also so I thought that the parasites could be the correlation to it all. So we had her start along with my husband as well since he has some ADD. He felt great right away. He said he never felt so good. I took her first ATEC test on July 30 and it was a 37. We started soon after.

And here’s the people who wrote a book telling desperate parents that bleach will cure autism.

And the treatment drives people to poison their children and then post highly misguided stories like the below.

No, the doctor did not see any viruses, that is unless they just happen to have an electron microscope in the office. This is either an out and out falsehood or is being posted by someone who is extremely ignorant.

But that is exactly who the purveyors of this snakeoil seem to be targeting, the desperate and poorly informed, the same people who hold tight to the discredited idea that vaccines cause autism. Except now the “heavy metals” that supposedly caused the condition are in billed as being in the air and environment, not just in vaccines, an easy pivot in storytelling.

Here’s how the FDA describes the potency and effects of the product.

Distributor websites describe MMS as a liquid that’s 28 percent sodium chlorite in distilled water. Product directions tell consumers to mix the sodium chlorite solution with citric acid—such as, lemon or lime juice—or another acid before drinking. When the acid is added, the mixture becomes chlorine dioxide, a powerful bleaching agent, says FDA expert Charles Lee, M.D.

Lee says both chemicals are the active ingredients in disinfectants, and they have many other industrial uses.

Some distributors claim MMS mixed with citric acid is an antimicrobial, antiviral, and antibacterial liquid that is a remedy for colds, acne, cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, H1N1 flu, and other conditions. But FDA experts say they aren’t aware of any research that shows the product can effectively treat any illnesses.

FDA has received several reports of consumers who got sick from drinking the MMS and citrus juice mixture. The reports say consumers suffered from nausea, severe vomiting, and life-threatening low blood pressure caused by dehydration.

How these con men and women aren’t in jail is beyond my capacity to understand. The Autism Science Foundation has spoken out against the quack therapy and provides a list of others that are being pushed on unsuspecting consumers. There are many.
