Customer Leaves Receipt Note Praising Restaurant’s ‘Tasty’ Food, But It Has A Racist Ending
By Jacob Geers
Leaving a note on a receipt can be an excellent way to convey thoughts about your visit at a restaurant.
For instance, if you felt your waiter was inattentive, you could leave a note stating that’s why you gave a lower tip than might have been expected. Or if the food tasted great, you could write that down as a positive comment.
In the case of this note, however, something very bizarre happened. The customers praised both the service at the restaurant, and the taste of their food — but they still would not be coming back.
Why?
Because the owner is from Mexico.
The note reads:
The food was tasty and the service was attentive. However, the owner is “Mexican.” We will not return. America First.
Di Frabo Ristorante Italiano was the eatery where the note was left. The founder and owner, Fernando Franco, says that the note is the first time he has ever felt unwelcome in America.
“We’re just going to keep working and I think most of the people are not like this,” Franco said. He is in the United States on an investor visa, and plans to formally apply for citizenship very soon.
The note was posted to Facebook by a friend of the owner, who was outraged by the message scrawled on the receipt.
Franco has told media that the customers paid in cash, so there is no way to identify and reach out to them.
