Don’t Forget To Save Some Love For Yourself
Think of all the love that you give to other people. Think of how much you care about them. Think about how thoughtful you are. Think about how much you give and give and give. Your heart is full, right? You have so much love to give, right? It doesn’t matter if you feel down. It doesn’t matter if you feel broken. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t getting the support that you need. It doesn’t matter if you’re having a bad day. You should still give as much love as you can, right?
WRONG!
You need to save some love for yourself.
Sometimes, people give so much to others so that they can mask their own problems. It is possible that they do this so that they don’t have to think about their problems and solve them. Sometimes, people do this because they think they are unworthy and others deserve the love more. And, sometimes, there is no reason. Sometimes, people just do this because they have a big heart filled with so much love.
I want you to know that your intentions are in the right place. I want you to know that it is not your fault for loving so much. I want you to know that it is not wrong to be thoughtful, to be caring, and to give love to others. It is not wrong to be human. You are using your superpower: LOVE.
But, you have to save some love for yourself. Sometimes, humans can’t reciprocate because of their own reasons. Whatever they may be. You are selfless. But, you have to be aware. You have to give yourself more love. At first, I wanted to say that you have to be more selfish, but I stopped. And, I was right in doing so. Being selfish means that you lack consideration for others. You are NOT selfish. You are anything but. Loving yourself instead of draining yourself when others can’t reciprocate is not selfish. You are just saving yourself from becoming too tired. Too tired of giving when they don’t give anything back. Too tired of not being appreciated. Too tired of your intentions being misconstrued. You just become too tired. And that is okay.
You are using your heart so much and you need to save it. It needs a break so that it can fill itself up with love, again.
We are in a time where self-love has become a revolution. As it should. Everyone is slowly waking up and realizing that they need to love themselves before giving so much love to others. But don’t misunderstand this. You still need to love others. Just don’t forget to love yourself, too. This is a reminder in case you forgot. In case you’re feeling a little bit empty because the love that you are giving is never returned. You’ll never run out, but you should still save some for yourself. Never stop giving yourself love.
