Don’t Stay With Someone Who Makes You Unhappy

You’re not meant to stay with someone who makes you unhappy. You’re not supposed to settle in a situation that stopped fulfilling you a long time ago.

You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to leave, to decide it’s time to move forward, to try something new. You’re allowed to put yourself first. To listen to your gut for once.

People change. Relationships evolve. That’s not wrong. That’s a fundamental aspect to life. The things you once desired won’t always remain the same.

If a relationship is no longer serving your best interests, take some honest time to reevaluate what it is you want.

Life is unpredictable and frighteningly short. You don’t want to look back and realize you wasted years just because you thought you were supposed to stick around. Just because you thought it was easier to stay.

Every day, you should ask yourself two questions:

  1. Do I surround myself with things that bring happiness?
  2. If not, what’s holding me back?

Your partner should complement you. No, not every moment is going to be magic. There will be good days and bad ones.

But if on the whole, you find yourself unhappy, pay attention to that.

Give yourself permission to change. Make yourself a priority again. Let your heart guide you.

If someone is making you unhappy, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the bad guy. It doesn’t mean it was all for nothing. It doesn’t mean love didn’t exist once upon a time, or that it doesn’t still.

But you deserve to be happy. Don’t stay if you aren’t.
