Even If You Don’t Have It All Figured Out, Choose To Be Bold

Jane, Kat, and Sutton from The Bold Type are my fantasy squad of girlfriends. They’re the kind of women who inspire and encourage me to be as bold and as brave as I choose to be. Every time I watch The Bold Type, I see them moving through their lives in the city, working hard and playing hard. Fighting for what they believe in, taking big risks, challenging outdated ideas and conventions, and forging ahead confidently, boldly, and bravely.

They’re a refreshing reminder that living a bold and brave life is an intentional choice and one that can change your life in exciting and adventurous ways. They don’t always play by all the rules either, which is necessary sometimes for change to take place when and where needed. They embody remarkable courage, strength, and determination and remind me that I can be a woman who lives life on my terms and do things I never thought were possible. And so can you.

You can be an unapologetically powerful woman.

You can reinvent yourself.

You can ask for a raise.

You can embrace and share your creativity.

You can use the unfollow, unfriend, delete contact, and block features when and where needed.

You can embrace your body and choose what you decide or not decide to do with it.

You can change your mind.

You can tell a guy no and remind him that no means no.

You can make the first move or decide you’d rather be pursued.

You can settle down and have kids or decide not to.

You can choose to adopt or enjoy a child-free life.

You can have fur babies and shower them with as much love as they want and need or live fur baby-free.

You can confront someone you’re scared of and finally stand up for yourself.

You can have hard conversations and try to seek out resolutions.

You can choose friendships that matter and walk away from ones that no longer serve you.

Please know and understand that you can choose to be bold and brave.

You don’t need things mansplained to you by a guy who tries to insult your intelligence, diminish your success, or hate on your grind.

You don’t need permission to decide what kind of clothes you want to wear. You can be subtle, sexy, modest, or cool. It’s your choice.

You don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable doing.

You don’t have to apologize for who you are.

You don’t have to pretend to have everything figured out or carry on as if your life is completely put together. Truthfully, a lot of us are still figuring things out as we move along.

But you can still be bold and brave.
