Everybody Wants Success, But No One Wants To Put The Work In

By

I’ve recently come to the realization that hard work is becoming obsolete. Okay, well maybe not hard work but hard working individuals. These individuals go out of their way to be the best they can be; if they don’t understand something, they don’t sleep until they do. Even if their schedule is filled to the max, they make room to strengthen their weakest link. They work day in and day out to not only improve themselves, but to improve others around them.

Now I want you to think, when was the last time you met an individual like this? It has most likely been quite some time since you’ve encountered this determined individual, or you have never made an acquaintance of the like… and this is a huge problem.

So many people are “simply going through the motions,” doing the absolute minimum, and then getting upset when they aren’t given what they so desire. This is the exact problem our millennial generation has — we have unrealistic expectations for our future based on how we were raised in the past. Too many parents raise their kids by showering them with compliments and material things; too many high schools push kids through for the sake of a decent graduation rate instead of making their students work for their diploma. In turn, this creates a privileged and entitled generation who believe mediocrity will give them success.

And that’s what people don’t understand, is that they can be better than just mediocre. There are way too many mediocre people in this world; they may have fantastic jobs and nice homes, but these people never challenge themselves and their current knowledge. They lack the desire and passion to learn more and make themselves the best they can be. Why be average when you can be way above average? All you have to do is put the work in. Success tastes oh so much sweeter when you work for it.
