Group Of ‘Besties’ Builds Sustainable Village Where They All Live Together

Is your friend group ready to achieve the next level of friendship?? If so, maybe it is time for ya’ll to run away from the burdens of a consumerist society and build a private village of sustainable “little houses.”

That’s exactly what some friends from Austin, Texas did.

With the help of architect Matt Garcia, the four couples bought up some land and began building a vacation village outside of Austin. The result? A commune of tiny sustainable houses that many have dubbed “Bestie Row.”

Garcia said he drew from his childhood to design the homes, saying that “the large grain silos and grain elevators were so beautiful, extremely minimal and industrial.”

The buildings were constructed to be as sustainable as possible, with slopped rooftops draining rainwater into bins to be recycled and used.

The sustainability, however, does not detract from the beauty of the home’s interior.

The homes are a hybrid between modern and rustic, giving the huts a very sophisticated feel.

The friends do not currently live in the village full-time, though they do take frequent vacations there.

Isolated, but comfortable, these huts could be the next big fad.
