Here Are The Amazing Health Benefits Of Essential Oils To Implement Into Your Everyday Life
By Jenn Ryan
Aside from their wonderful smell, essential oils can be very healing.
The power of scent can help you with stress, chronic pain, and depression. Not to mention they’re a great alternative for commercial perfumes, which contain chemicals that aren’t even required to be disclosed on the bottle!
Essential oils are completely natural and smell amazing. Here are some insane health benefits of these scents that you never even knew about.
Relax from Stress and Anxiety with Lavender
Lavender is known for promoting relaxation and sleep. This herb has lots of benefits, including being as effective as anti-anxiety medications for both depression and anxiety.
Although many of us take time and effort to reduce stress in our life—such as through exercising, meditation, or relaxing—many times its presence can still be overwhelming. Creating your own perfume out of essential oils with these or a room spray can help diffuse calmness into your life.
One of my favorite things to do with lavender essential oil is to put it in the bath (about 10 drops) with either Epsom or Magnesium Salts. Lavender has also been known to help with tension, pain, and insomnia. Lavender essential oil is also great for using with massage, even self-massage on your neck or temples.
While most essential oils need to be used diluted, lavender is one of the few that can be used at full strength. You should only do this with a carrier oil and if your skin isn’t sensitive, as it can be harsh.
You can even make your own cleaning products with lavender due its antibacterial nature, and the smell will help you relax while you clean. Relaxing from stress is so important in our lives. Lavender can help infuse calmness into your world naturally!
Relieve Headaches and Indigestion with Peppermint
Peppermint and wintergreen essential oils can promote mental clarity and calm.
Peppermint has been proven to relieve headaches as well as acetaminophen, a drug that can have dangerous side effects.
Peppermint is also an excellent essential oil for digestion, and it is one of the only essential oils that can be taken internally (only do this under the advice of a healthcare professional). It can be great for sore muscles and headaches. Wintergreen oil is noted for alleviating pain and promoting relaxation as well as helping headaches.
Diffusers for essential oils are growing in popularity: just put a few drops of essential oil in, and it turns your room into a heavenly-smelling retreat!
Breathe Easier with a Cold with Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus has been proven to help relieve congestion when used externally, and also works great in an essential oil diffuser where it will fill the room with the stimulating scent.
Eucalyptus and tea tree oil are also antiseptic oils and can be used for chest rubs and sore throat. You can even put some in your next bath to help detox and breathe easier!
Relieve Acne and More with Tea Tree Oil
With over a century of beneficial uses, tea tree oil is also known for being antifungal and antiviral. This oil is very potent and usually needs to be diluted before use. It can be used for athlete’s foot, acne, lice, dandruff, and sinus infections and coughs much like eucalyptus.
While some essential oils are pricier than others, the most common ones are budget-friendly and easy to incorporate into your daily life. They’re an essential part of many natural remedies that can help improve everything from circulation to fungal infections and depression.
If you haven’t started an essential oil collection yet, I would recommend you start out with lavender—this common oil is so easy to use for a massage, a bath, or in a diffuser and has a scent that’s instantly uplifting.
Enjoy!
