How To Be Free

By

Begin by deciding that you will be compassionate to yourself and to others. You will look for the best in people, no matter how they choose to see you. You will treat them how you always want to be treated without any expectation that they ought to treat you the same. When you see yourself, you will see someone beautiful, someone capable, someone caring and kind. In your reflection, you will choose to see someone who has exactly what they need; someone who will always have what they need.

Let go of your past, let go of your worries for the future — the most important moment that you have is now. Affirm that you have learned what you need to meet any challenges that will come across your path. In your present challenges, recognize that you are being strengthened. Recognize that these trials are not lasting. Allow the trials to make you kinder to others whose problems may be unknown to you. Pray for them, bless them, smile at them, and never fail to offer them a helping hand when you can.

Laugh until every cell in your body aches from that joyful pain. Find humor even where others fail to see it. But cry when you have been hurt. When the unpleasant pain can no longer be endured alone, let your tears fall and be proud of them. Know that you tears are your strength because they remind you that you are still alive, and that as long as you breathe, you have a purpose. Scream in the middle of open fields when you must. But do not get angry too often, you are far too blessed to allow anger to devour you.

Sing and dance and run and fly. Do not be concerned about who is watching; you are consumed by life and living, and you cannot help yourself. Invite everyone you know to join you and teach them your steps, and  teach them the song and dance. Run with them and when they’re ready, they will learn how to fly too. After the celebration, break away because you will need to be alone to listen to the whispers of your soul. You will need to be alone to rejuvenate your spirit.

Love without inhibitions. Be vulnerable and let it hurt; it is supposed to hurt. You will be disappointed, and you will want to run away from everything. But instead you will stay and you will experience the inexplicable wonders of love. You will be beyond your humanity; your body and soul and spirit will feel at home. Because this is what you are meant for – true and pure and great love. And now you know why everyone wants this; you understand what it is to truly just be. Now, you are free.
