How To Escape The Feeling Of Failure

By

I think one of the hardest things to do in life is getting back up after you’ve fallen so low. Whether it be from heartbreak, from work, from relationships with family and friends -when we are defeated, we sometimes feel a sense of permanency that we can’t escape. You’ll never get back up. You’ll never succeed. You’ll never be happy. Our self-worth is plummeted down a rabbit hole of failure with no walls for us to cling onto on the way down.

Some days things go exactly the way we want them to, and other days our hopes and dreams are crushed into a blender and served as a sorrowful sundae with flakes of disappointment sprinkled on top. Sometimes it feels like you’re a dog excited for a car ride, until you realize you’re on the way to the vet. You’re psyched and happy and everything is wonderful. Then it comes crashing down because it’s not what you expected. You’ll never trust an innocent car ride again. You’ll never want to take another leap of fun, or excitement, because you’re afraid it won’t work out just like the last time.

Fortunately, failure isn’t a permanent state. Failure is just a speed bump on your yellow brick road to success. Failure is your detour away from Oz because who wants to just drive straight through a field of poppies without passing out a little first? Nobody has been given success just because they asked. They worked for it. They fell, they got back up, maybe fell further, and eventually made it to where they wanted to be. It may not be what you want to hear, but it is something that you should believe.

The truth is, life is full of these moments that seem like black holes. It’s what builds our character and creates who we become. The only thing that can save you from your black hole is you. We can’t control the wind, but we can adjust the sails.
