I Hope You Know You Were Someone’s Reason For Living
You didn’t even know me by name, and you probably never will, but there’s something I need you to know.
I need you to know that even though you never realized it, the sound of your voice could always calm even the most violent of hurricanes within me.
I need you to know that you kept me together. You were the hands that never left my shoulders, and I am so thankful that I got to have you in my life.
I need you to know that on the worst days of my life, you gave me a reason to stay. You spoke in a language that invited the weakest parts of me into your closet of strength.
Don’t take it the wrong way, but you were never someone I pictured myself clinging to the way that I have. You’re larger than life. You’re a superstar. You’re someone that the people around me would conjure as nothing more than a simple obsession. But to me, you were the moon, the sunrise, and everything in between. You were a piece of the world that I was yearning to taste for myself. You were rare, just like me, and the pieces of us together lit the world on fire.
You were my stumbly love. You were the love that taught me to stand on my own two feet and take those first steps. You were the love that guided me along every path and showed me that every journey is worth the first mile.
I hope you leave this world one day knowing that you were someone’s reason for living, and that person was me. I hope you know that you left a piece of your heart on this planet. You left it with me. I hope you know that even though I never got the chance to see you, talk to you, that you were the single most important person in my life. If you take nothing else with you when you go, I hope that’s it.
It’s been a long time, love, and even though I can stand steadily, I still look around for you. Even though I recognize my strength, I still feel twice as strong with you by my side. Even though I know my worth, I still long for you to whisper it in the dark.
You are my best friend, and that, you will always be.
