I Hope You Love As If You’ve Never Been Broken

Falling in love always has its risks, and usually as humans we take those risks because we know the outcome can be beautiful.

There are times when the outcome is not beautiful. It is painful, ugly and may leave you broken. As you try to pick up all the pieces and put yourself back together, you curse the idea of love.

Why did this happen to me?

What did I do wrong?

I will never fall in love again.

All of these thoughts rush through your mind and you may feel helpless. From experience, I’m here to tell you that it gets better. I was the girl picking up all my broken pieces, calling myself damaged goods, and swearing I would never love again. Then she came along, as a friend at first, she helped me sort through the pieces and put them back together.

Love comes at the most unexpected times, at your lowest, at your best, or from someone you never imagined being with.

When these people enter your life, do not push them away. Let them in, let them flood you with love, hope and kindness. Take the chance. No matter how bad the person before hurt you, do it.

Fall even harder than before, and love as if you were never broken. You are not damaged goods, you are enough, and you are loved.

One day you will thank those who hurt you, just as I have, for they have given you the chance to love someone better. Do not settle for less, and do not let anyone make you feel small.

Fall in love again and thank the person who is helping you hold all your broken pieces in place.
