I Loved You Through All Seasons

By

You loved me one summer day–
when everything was alive and intense,
the heat of the sun, lackluster compared to the burning love you had for me,
and we were happy and oh so alive.

You loved me many fall days–
when the flowers withered and the temperature dropped,
the cool breeze, muted by our warm laughter,
and we were happy.

I loved you through winter–
when everything was dead and cold,
the freezing snow, lackluster compared to the burning love I had for you,
and I was happy.

Today I am alive and oh so happy,
the air fills with my warm laughter,
when the ground unthaws, the flowers bloom–
and I have finally sprung.
