I Seriously Love Rashida Jones

It began in 2004. I was enjoying an episode of Chappelle’s Show, when a sketch about a ‘love contract’ came on. The woman in the scene was mesmerizing. It resulted in one of those creeper moments, where I hopped on the computer, visited IMDB and tracked down a name for this gorgeous actress. At the time there wasn’t a ton of info about her. She had been on Freaks And Geeks and Boston Public, but besides that I was out of luck.
In 2007 I stumbled upon a movie titled The Ten. Paul Rudd was in it; I’m a fan so I rented it. As I’m watching there’s a part where this insanely good-looking woman appears. Again her beauty captivates me. I know who she is, and I felt like Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother, when one of his women from the past reappears in his life as if it’s destiny (annnd there it is).
From then on I consistently saw more of Rashida Jones. On The Office, I Love You, Man, The Social Network, Our Idiot Brother, and The Muppets. If you’ve ever seen her as Ann Perkins on Parks And Recreation, surely you can grasp her appeal. There are a number of engaging things I discovered about her over the years. A few in particular stood out, and increased my attraction:
1. She went to Harvard, which means she’s highly intelligent.
2. Quincy Jones is her father. How cool is that?
3. She’s the perfect, rare combination of elegant, talented, intellectual and hilarious.
Anyway, my adoration for Rashida has grown as I continue to see her work. On August 3rd, 2012 a film that she co-wrote and starred in came out. It’s called Celeste and Jesse Forever and I desperately want to see it. My dilemma is that I’m currently in Arizona and waiting patiently for the August 31st showing in my city. Yes, I have it all planned out, I suggest you do the same.

The point I’m trying to make is that Rashida is better than your celebrity crush. Don’t feel bad — perhaps you weren’t fully aware of her range of skills and overall loveliness — but now you have no excuse. You’ve been informed and you’ll undoubtedly go check out Rashida Jones and her body of work. Now if you’ll excuse me, I just discovered a series she did in the 2000s called NY-LON on Netflix, and I’m going to go watch it while plotting ways to make Rashida aware of my existence.
