I Want To Be The Reason You Stay
By Nimita Bhatt
I want to be the reason you stay.
And the one who you can’t let go of because you know if you do, that there will be a part of you missing.
I want to be the reason you lay in bed a little longer on a Sunday
And the reason you’re tired in the morning because we couldn’t sleep all night.
I want to be the reason for you being distracted at work because you’re thinking about me.
And the person you reach for in the middle of the night to keep warm.
I want to be the one you hold hands with when we’re walking down the street.
And the person who tells me I look pretty with no makeup.
I want to be the person in your bed that you don’t mind sharing your space with.
I want to be the reason that you tried again even though your heart was broken.
And the reason you learned to trust again.
I want to be the one who you pour your heart out to and tell me things that you haven’t told anyone.
And I want to be the person whom you share your weirdness with.
I want to be the reason your friends make fun of you because you’re in love.
And the reason you cancel plans to spend time with me.
I want to be your Sunday morning. The person you look at with contentment, not confusion of how I got into your bed.
And I want to be the one you never thought you’d find or deserved.
I want to be the leap you take, because leaps are scary, but you’re willing to take that risk with me.
And I want to be your first choice as you are mine.
I want to be your forever person.
