I Want You To Be In Love With Me—Not Her

I know we are “just friends.” I know you don’t see me “like that.” I know you’re taken. But for some reason, there’s something about you that makes me feel complete. You make me feel indestructible. When I’m with you, I feel like we are the only two people in the room.

I know that before you go to bed, you think about somebody else. And it’s funny because when I draw the curtains, I look at the night sky, the stars, the moon, and think of only you, while you, think of her: the girl you are dreaming about as a I write this.

I want to lay next to you on the cold grass and just look at the stars. I want you to point the stars and teach me about the constellations. I want to feel like the universe belongs to us.

I want to talk to you about horoscopes, and I want you to chuckle at how seriously I take them, but keep asking questions because that’s your excuse to keep the conversation going.

I want to take photos super-awkward photos with you and I want our friends to take candids that I’ll fall in love with. I want to go to Karaoke nights at the bar with you and perform only to embarrass myself, and I want you to proudly cheer for me. I want you to kiss me. I want you in my life and I want you to realize it. I want you to stop fighting the urge to not love me. I want you to make the first move. I want to make you happy and I want you to want me.

I want us to be the lightweights at the party. I want to sit on your lap and be the DJs at the pre.

I want you to be in love with me and my bed.

I want you to play with my hair until I fall asleep.

I want you to dream about me—not her.
