In 2017 Stop Being The Person Who Makes Excuses

By

We come with excuses all the time. It is a self-destructive behavior that prevents us from reaching our goals. Making excuses is a self-damaging mistake where you are mainly hurting yourself, and often others too.

If you want to move ahead in life, you have to stop making excuses. You have to work hard and be committed for personal growth. In 2017, let’s all try to be the person who doesn’t make excuses. Let’s all try to be the person who gets sh*t done.

So here is to 2017, when we will stop making these excuses and get what we want in life. Let’s leave the excuses in 2016, and move on to a happier and more successful 2017. Say goodbye to the following statements, because, finally, you’re going to be the person who walks the walk.

“I’m too busy.”

Most frequently used and the lamest excuse of them all. No one is ever that busy; it is a matter of priorities. We always make time for what we want in life.

“It’s not my responsibility.”

Be it in your personal or professional life, sometimes we feel so entitled that we think someone else will just do it for us. Grow up, and starting being accountable. Maybe your mommy and daddy took care of it in the past, but you are an adult now.

“I’m too tired.”

Who isn’t? That’s why we sleep, rest, and get up and get going. Saying “I’m too tired” is just a slightly nicer way of saying “I am lazy and don’t want to.” In reality, it’s just an excuse.

“I’ll do it later.”

Procrastination is the worst. It is such a terrible habit because then we have to rush to get it done in less time but we still keep things for later. Not the smartest idea, because it only makes everything harder for us, and it’s unnecessary stress.

“It’s too late now.”

Yes, it may have been better to get it done earlier, but it is never TOO late to start over, apologize, or try to be a better person. It is never too late to make a positive change in life.

“It’s not my fault.”

Blaming others for your mistakes or things that are not going right in your life is just immature. Take responsibility for your actions and face the consequences of your decisions with grace. Blaming others is just a feeble excuse.

“It’s too difficult.”

Nothing worth having in life comes easy. If you are not willing to work hard, you cannot expect to succeed. Everything is hard at first, but then practice makes perfect. Let go of this excuse.

“It’s not the right time.”

If not now, then when? Now is the only time you have. Now is when you have the power to change your life and who you are. There is never a right time; it is what you make of it in the moment right now.

“I’m scared.”

We push things back because we are scared of how others will take things or how it will affect us. We are scared to speak up for ourselves, or walk away from an abusive relationship. The truth is – the more you resist it, the harder (worse) it gets.

“I’ll never be able to do it.”

Yes, you will be. You just need to try – how do you know if you never even tried it?? Most likely it will take more than one attempt but you just have to keep going, instead of using that excuse to give up.

“I don’t have enough money.”

If you want to travel or make a big move, yes money can be an issue, but if you want it badly enough, you will find a way to make it happen – work more, save more, spend less. If money is the only thing getting in the way of you and your dream to explore, don’t let it. Work your ass off.

“I am too young/too old for that.”

You will always be either too young or too old to do anything in life, there is never really a right age to do anything. You can either use it as an excuse from making yourself happier or dive right in and get a step closer to your dream.

“I’m not ready to start or end  a relationship.”

We are scared to get into a relationship because we are not ready, commitment phobic, worried about failure, selfish narcissists or we’re just scared of a lifestyle change. We are scared to end an unhappy relationship because we are afraid to be alone, start over, are comfortably unhappy, insecure, etc. It’s nothing more than a pile of BS excuses (and you know it).

So, say goodbye to those things. Stop saying them, stop making excuses. Here’s to being the type of person we admire in 2017. Cheers!
