It’s Okay If You Don’t Know Where You’re Going
By Matt Wilks
Nowadays, there is so much pressure to have our entire lives all figured out. Yet, we are rarely ever told that it’s okay to have no idea where your life is going and just continue onward, fitting the pieces together as we come and go.
I need you to know that you don’t need to know where exactly you’re going right now. There is no hurry to have your whole life figured out, despite what those around you may want you to think. What those around you may believe that you should think.
The truth is that despite the picture that social media may paint, no one truly has their entire lives figured out. Each and every one of us is slowly fitting the pieces together, trying to figure it all out as we go. And even if you do happen to be one of the few that has it figured it out, you are still going with the flow of life and the unknown that follows it.
For me personally, I am now in my mid-twenties. And although I have a general idea as to where I want my life to go, that could end up looking so much different than what I may have originally envisioned.
And that’s okay.
Because it’s also okay to find peace in not knowing. It’s also okay to love the process of it all unfolding, even if it isn’t exactly as you had pictured it from the start.
Right now, you are following the path in front of you.
Right now, things may be uncertain.
But right now, things are different than what they will be.
And right now, that’s all that we can do when it’s all said and done.
Only the future can show us what all of it will look like. And although we may want to rush and hurry to see what that picture is, we will all have to patiently wait and find out. We will all have to just go with the flow of life and take it day by day, hour by hour, and moment by moment. Because that is all we can do and that is all we are here to do.
So to you, the person who doesn’t know where they are heading right now…
You are doing just fine. You are doing everything that you can be doing. You are following your intuition and listening to the inner voice inside of you that is guiding your way. And although your future may look different than the path you are currently on, everything will work out in the end. Everything that is meant to find you will find you at exactly the precise moment that it should. There is no need to rush.
Because remember, life and time are inherently temporary. None of it all matters in the end, anyway. But with that being said, enjoy your time and your journey while you’re here. Live fully and presently in this moment right now.
And most of all, love where you are right now, because you are exactly where you should be. Life is the journey, not the destination. And there is no other time to take it all in than right one now. You are here already.
