Just So You Know, I’m Not Like Most Girls

I’m not like most girls, and that’s okay.

For me, happiness isn’t being in a relationship with someone who buys me everything.

Happiness is standing on my own two feet and making my happiness my own priority first.

I’m not the girl looking for the next guy to mooch off of or get attention from.

I’m the girl looking for the next friend to make memories with and planning vacations. And looking forward to moments of joy because of self-love, self-improvement and knowing where my happiness truly lies.

I’m the girl you’ll find at the café, all by herself making conversation with strangers and sitting at her table sipping her favorite latte and reading/writing her favorite material.

I’m the girl who loves experience and would prefer to experience life so that I might have wisdom.

And I don’t mind talking and making friends with people who are much older than me because wisdom is treasure. And knowledge is power, so let’s talk about life so that I might learn better.

You won’t find me out at the club getting wasted in hopes of numbing. Don’t get me wrong alcohol can be fun, but let’s stay in and drink wine and watch movies and play games and laugh at each other in our onesies. And make our favorite tacos.

I’m not the girl who’ll put you last on her priority list and make everyone else wait on her mood change.

I’m the girl who’ll make you first. If you need to talk, or empathy through crisis or simply someone to make you laugh, or a shoulder to cry on then I’m your girl.

I don’t mind listening to your stories, and your jokes and your memories. I could sit here in wonder of the stars next to you and talk about absolutely nothing and be completely happy.

I’m the girl that will drive miles for minutes to add value to someone else. I’m the girl who will find joy in the simplest of interactions that make me smile.

I’m not like other girls, and that’s okay.

It’s okay with me if I’m not in a relationship right now because I’m willing to work my ass off to one day deserve to have my forever person by my side.

But until then, I’ve got shit to do.

I’m not like other girls and I love it. Because individuality is one of the things that real and authentic people know how to value, and that’s exactly the type of community I’d rather be building.

Here’s to the girls like me, who aren’t like most, because although we are rare. But newsflash, we are the most authentic, kind and incredible type of girl you’ll ever find.
