Kanye West Just Lost 9.2 Million Twitter Followers Because Of This Single Tweet

By

Last week, Kanye West ended his Twitter hiatus with a shitstorm of sometimes inspiring (and oftentimes controversial) tweets about creativity, music, and yes, even politics. More specifically, Kanye reiterated his right-wing stance, which he first opened up about during Trump’s run in the 2016 presidential election. Apparently, he’s still feeling the love.

People started criticizing the musician when he voiced his support for conservative commentator Candace Owens and later began rapid-fire tweeting about Trump and “independent thinking.”

But apparently the last straw for fans was when Kanye tweeted photos of his MAGA hat.

In fact, it pissed people off so much that he lost 9.2 million Twitter followers, taking him from 27.8 million followers to 18.6 million in just seven minutes. Seriously. SEVEN MINUTES.

Among those who unfollowed him is Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Harry Styles, Jaden Smith, Zayn Malik, Ariana Grande, BTS, Justin Bieber, Lana Del Rey and The Weeknd. He also got this little shoutout from Jordan Peele, writer and director of the movie Get Out.

This has got to be one of the biggest drops in followers due to a single tweet. It’s a little insane, honestly. Apparently even Kim K thinks he needs to dial it down.

He did, however, earn a stamp of approval from Trump, so that’s… something?

But if you can say anything about Kanye, it’s that he’s certainly unapologetic. Half his career has consisted of controversial actions and offbeat opinions that made plenty of people — including some of his most loyal fans — scratch their heads. It’s part of who he is. Still, I got to say, I miss the old Kanye.
