Listening To Classic Rock In Big Sur Past Midnight

We are driving on the mountain road
and we don’t see any other cars.

Our hair is wet from the salty baths
we took in the springs on the cliff.

For hours the ocean crashed beneath us.

And I swear I saw things in the stars
that were put there for me.

Just me.

We don’t speak now,
there is nothing to say.

How can we talk about what has happened to us tonight?

It seems obscene to put it into words.
